Kauffmann Public Affairs Expands into Digital; Rebrands as Bluejacket Strategies
Expanded Services Include Digital Strategy & Targeted Advertising
New York, NY – Marking five years in business, Kauffmann Public Affairs is expanding its services and rebranding as Bluejacket Strategies. The firm will now offer full campaign management and digital advocacy services, in addition to strategic communications and public affairs.
“It’s no secret that digital advocacy has become a core element of public affairs. By expanding our portfolio of services, we can provide clients with the integrated solutions they are looking for – solutions that meet any and every communications need,” founder and principal Peter Kauffmann said. “The name Bluejacketembraces our identity as a veteran-owned, mission-driven company that actively supports candidates and causes that share our values.”
Helping to oversee the firm’s expansion will be Mark Skidmore, who will serve as a Strategic Advisor to Bluejacket Strategies. Skidmore pioneered the use of digital media in politics, bringing corporate ROI strategies and tactics to political marketing. He developed new methods for voter contact, rapid response and persuasion that are now cornerstones of today’s political and public affairs playbook. His political clients have included Obama for America, Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Emily’s List, and the DSCC.
“Mark has been at the forefront of digital advocacy for the past decade. He has helped elect a generation of progressives to public office and led the effort that moved the New York Democratic Party into the modern age of political campaigns. We are delighted to have his advice and counsel as we build a digital operation,” said Kauffmann.
Peter Kauffmann is the founder and principal of Bluejacket Strategies, with 20 years experience in public affairs and public service.
During the 2016 election cycle, Kauffmann was an advisor to Priorities USA, the primary super PAC supporting Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. He has served as Press Secretary for Senator Hillary Clinton and Deputy Press Secretary at the Democratic National Committee. Kauffmann was Senior Advisor to Governor Andrew Cuomo on both of his successful campaigns for governor and previously served as Director of Communications for the Governor of New York.
Following the September 11 terrorist attacks, Kauffmann enlisted in the United States Navy and spent five years on active duty as an Intelligence Officer. He is Vice Chair of VoteVets, a Truman National Security Project Fellow, and a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College.
Giving Back
As a veteran-owned, mission-driven company, Bluejacket actively seeks to help veterans transitioning to the private sector. Veterans interested in learning about careers in public affairs should contact the firm at veteran@bluejacket.nyc. In addition, Bluejacket offers pro bono media training to veterans who are considering running for elected office.
“Part of being an advocacy firm is giving back. I was honored to serve as an officer in the United States Navy, and my long-term goal is to help other veterans pursue successful careers in public service and the private sector,” said Kauffmann.
